It was a calm day today in the Kingdom of Cameron. The day was warm and still, and not much was going on. The people tended to keep to their houses or occasionally stepped out to do errands. Even some of the pokemon were following this procedure. In the Emerald Forests, sunlight peeked between the leaves of the trees to show such a pokemon... A large raichu was lounging in the branches of a massive fruit tree. It was quite large for it's kind... Easily 4 foot five if it stood on it's hind legs with dark orange fur and brown stripes. A black, whip-like tail with a thunderbolt shaped "blade" drifted back and forth from the branch lazily as it relaxed it's back against a trunk.
Charon was it's name... And at the moment, he was holding several blue oran berries in his paw , munching on one with a very content expression on his face. The raichu paused however, as one of his crescent shaped ears twitched slightly... Was someone else nearby? The raichu stuffed the rest of the berries in his mouth, quickly swallowing them and jumped to a higher branch, his paws clinging to the rough bark, looking down at the forest floor with piercing amber eyes from heavy foliage.

Apocalypse the Absol ~ Level 50 Ragnarok the Absol ~ Level 50
The bushes shook wildly, and a moment later a small, silvery-white Absol shot through the undergrowt. Her head was turned over her shoulder, and she seemed to be waiting for someone else to come through the bushes. The lithe Pokemon bounced eagerly, not noticing the Raichu behind her. <”Rain! Rag-Rag! Hurry up!”> The brush shook once more, and there was a white flash and a slash before the thick bush fell away and a large white Absol walked in, dark indigo eyes annoyed. <”My name is Ragnarok, Apocalypse. Not ‘Rag-Rag’.”>
The smaller Absol named Apocalypse stuck out her tongue. <”Whatever. Where’s Rain? I found the place! Rain! Raaaaaaaaain!”> There was a laugh from the other side of the bushes. “I’m coming, Caly. I can’t get through this stuff as quickly as you, you know.” A couple seconds later, a tall, black-haired girl walked in, blue eyes shining. Apocalypse bounded over to her, her brother walking slowly behind her, and the girl chuckled again, petting the smaller Absol’s silky white fur. <”See! I found berries! Lots of berries!”> the female Absol chirped, misty lavender eyes wide with pride and excitement. Apocalypse whipped around to point at the bushes of berries and Rain and Ragnarok turned as well, and all three froze, wide-eyed, to face the Raichu that was sitting there, eating Oran berries.

Charon the Raichu ~ level 60
Charon's amber eyes widened at the absols... Now that was something you didn't see every day... And like a raichu to other pokemon, it generally wasn't something you WANTED to see. According to certain beliefs, they were supposed to be bad luck... The fact they were predators didn't help either. The large raichu thought it in his best interest to leave... He could feel out their power levels using an electric signal... And both of them were weaker than him... Slightly... And he had a move he could use on the dark pokemon... But he didn't want injuries... And there was still 2 of them.
However, before he could leave, his sharp ears picked up Apocalypse's comment... "Found the berries?" Charon thought idly... "Why would they want berries? The taste?" Now that he thought about it, there was something off about the two absols... They had a tame look about them... A content expression when they normally had a calm, watchful one. And a scent... There was a scent he couldn't place... When Rain entered the clearing, the raichu's blood went cold.
So... There was a trainer here... And the two absols were most likely her pokemon. Before Charon could run away, his paw slipped slightly on one of the tree limbs, sending a small shard of bark to the ground below. One of the absols... The larger male one, turned to face him... And then all three of them were facing Charon. The raichu narrowed his amber eyes and ushered a hiss, electric sparks issuing from his yellow cheeks as he did so. <"Back off!"> Charon growled.

OOC: I didn’t notice this before, but I think Charon’s a bit too big…most Raichu are around 2 feet tall, and Charon’s like twice as tall…it just seems a little much.
Apocalypse the Absol ~ Level 51 Ragnarok the Absol ~ Level 51
Ragnarok was the first to react, immediately stepping in front of his sister and Rain, crouching and growling slightly as he took on a protective pose. He wasn’t going to start a fight, especially with Rain here, but this Raichu was obviously not happy, and if the Raichu attacked first…well, Ragnarok wasn’t going to let Apocalypse or Rain be hurt. Why was it so upset though? They had done nothing other than come to pick a few berries; surely the Raichu couldn’t be upset over some berries? Or maybe…was it Rain? Dark indigo eyes narrowed thoughtfully. Most Pokemon didn’t react that violently to the presence of a human – most were either curious or ran away – but there were always some who did. Maybe this Raichu had a bad experience in the past.
Rain, on the other hand, took a second to snap out of her surprise, but when she saw sparks appear and heard the Raichu growl defensively, the girl’s blue eyes widened. “Please, calm down,” she said urgently, reaching out a hand and unconsciously reaching out with her aura, trying to assure the electric Pokemon that she was friendly. “I’m not here to hurt you or anything. I just want to collect some berries.”
Apocalypse, who had jumped behind Rain, peeked out and nodded furiously. <”Yeah,”> the petite Absol affirmed, lavender eyes wide. <”Rain wouldn’t hurt any Pokemon. Please don’t attack us.”>

OOC:Really? Some of them I saw almost reached a trainer's waist when standing on their hind legs.
Charon ~ level 61
Charon wasn't convinced... At least not fully... For some reason, he was feeling himself calming down, and it inwardly alarmed him. Amber eyes flicked torward to Rain, the absols, and to Rain again. Did he REALLY trust this human that much?... She didn't seem to have a pokeball attatched to her waist, but that didn't mean there wasn't one somewhere. The raichu eased his muscles some and stopped the sparking from his cheeks, but his amber eyes were still unfriendly and very wary. <"Take your human and go."> Charon hissed through gritted teeth. <"I don't want to start something, but I CAN fight if I have to. Come by and get your berries later.">
OOC: I'm sorry... But playing in character, Charon wouldn't even speak much to pokemon involved with humans.

OOC: Well... How about when Rain and the two absols back off, Charon runs away, then he meets someone else. Soul might work. On another note, what do ya think of my siggie? Funny isn't it?

Apocalypse the Absol ~ Level 52 Ragnarok the Absol ~ Level 52 Soul the Lucario ~ Level 100
<"But-">
Apocalypse was cut off with a sharp look from Rain. The girl shook her head and then nodded to Ragnarok, who nodded back before turning to Charon. <"Very well,"> the male Absol said neutrally. <"We will leave."> The three turned to go, but they had gotten only a couple steps before Rain froze, blue eyes blinking in confusion.
<"Something wrong?"> Apocalypse chirped, her voice slightly worried and wary. Rain was still for a moment longer before she shook her head and gave the Absol a half-smile. "I'm fine. Let's go."
In the shadows, a shape shifted and blue eyes cut through the darkness for a moment before disappearing into the forest.
OOC: Is River's Edge the continuation? Or should we continue here?

OOC: Nah, keep going. River's edge is a separate thread.
Charon the Raichu ~ level 62
The raichu furrowed his brow as he watched the human and the two absols disappear from view. Time seemed to go on forever before the raichu swung from the tree branches and landed on his hind legs on the forest floor below with a dull THUD. Charon's crescent shaped ears twitched in the direction where Rain left. "They are gone..." He thought with narrowed amber eyes.
The raichu seemed tense and even a little disappointed. <"I'll have to move further away then... If humans come all the way out here of all places."> Charon mumbled to himself as he gazed at the oran berry bush longingly, before shaking his head. <"All well... Time to find a new spot."> Charon stretched some before getting on all fours and speeding through the forest, deeper into it's heart.

Soul the Lucario ~ Level 100
[/i] A Lucario followed the Raichu curiously, racing through the forest silently with a speed that matched that of the Electric Pokemon. Soul could feel the Raichu's aura, and it was tense and wary despite Rain being gone. The Lucario was curious, to be honest...why was this Pokemon so wary of humans? Very few Pokemon were so automatically hostile toward humans...Raichu were generally known to be a bit more aggressive, but this one didn't seem to be looking for a fight...so Soul found himself following the Raichu, planning on observing what it did and perhaps maybe talking to it; who knew? Maybe the Pokemon had been hurt by a human, one that could pose a danger to others. Soul may have been a loner, but he considered himself a protector of the Tree and the kingdom, and that included the Pokemon that lived in it.[/blockquote]

Charon eventually stopped running, taking a few shallow breathes... He could have sworn he had been running for an hour or more none stop. The raichu took a few deep breathes as he calmed himself down, amber eyes searching the trees around him, sharp ears perked for any noise. He didn't think he was followed... The human went the other way, and Charon waited a while to make sure she was gone.
The large raichu gave a satisfied sigh as he cautiously moved on... And for a split second paused before walking on, though he went on as if nothing had happened. He heard a ruffle in the foliage... Something moving... But Charon decided to move on... It wasn't the human, that he was sure of... Not many humans came this far in the forest. Most likely it was another pokemon... For now, Charon walked on, keeping his ears secretly toned to make sure it wasn't following him.

Soul the Lucario ~ Level 100
Soul followed a short while longer before running ahead. He had both sensed and seen the Raichu's hesitation, and he knew that the other Pokemon had probably heard him. No matter. The Lucario decided that this was honestly not that important and moved on, heading for a secluded spot filled with berry bushes. He could have a small snack, maybe get a bit of strength from the berries before he moved on. A couple minutes, and the Lucario was sitting in a large branch of a Sitrus berry tree, eating the yellow fruit while keeping watch with alert blue eyes. He could sense an aura coming his way, one that he had just been tracking a while ago...

Charon ~ Level 63
The raichu relaxed a little after walking for some time on his hind legs, giving his upper paws time to rest. He wasn't being followed... Whatever it was moved on. Charon eventually reached a small clearing, and his amer eyes widened slightly as he beheld Soul staring at him... Almost expectingly... Lucarios... Charon didn't know much about them. They were highly intelligent though, everyone knew that, being up there with other sentient humanoid pokemon like alakazams. There was a rumor they could also see your "aura" or "lifeforce" as well. Frankly, Charon could care less... Because he wanted to know what a Lucario ate. As far as he knew, they had a lot of fruits and plants in their diet, but he wasn't completely sure... <"Um... Hi..."> Charon finally greeted awkwardly, muscles tense, although the lucario didn't seem agressive... Just stared with thoughtful blue eyes.
