It was warm out today in the Lush Meadows... The sun was out in it's full glory, the sky was a spotless light blue without a cloud in the sky, and yet, a nice breeze blew through the fields of green grass, causing it to dance with the wind.
Most pokemon were resting in the shade today, staying away from the sun. Most would come out in the later afternoon, when it got cooler. However, one particular pokemon was out today. Sunning himself on a large rock, was a larhe seviper named Synope, coiled up, red eyes narrowed in contentment as he soaked up sun. Today was a good day for the snake pokemon. Any day that was sunny helped him out a lot.
However, a rustle in a nearby bush caught his attention, and his red eyes focused on it... Very quietly, almost like a ghost, the large purple snake crawled down his rock and slithered towards the source, red, tongue flicking out, tasting the air.
He stopped behind some foliage and gazed through the grass, red eyes gleaming at a young pidgey, preening herself in the shade. A silky smile stretched the snake's lips as he coiled back, getting ready to strike, red fangs bared. After all, it had been a while after his last meal.
However, another rustle seemed to shock the pidgey out of what she was doing, and she only needed to turn her head slightly to see the much bigger Synope there getting ready to eat her, to cause to get into terrified squawks and flap away in clumsy haste.
Synope bared his teeth, with were tiny and sharp red canines except for his two red fangs. Something... Or more appropriately, someONE out there didn't know how to be quiet.
The snake narrowed his red eyes as he slithered towards the original source of the sound, tasting the air with his tongue, as well as feeling vibrations in the ground... He recognized the "scent"... And he tilted his head at the source. After all, there weren't many scents of other pokemon that he didn't eat, so the ones he spared he remembered quite well. "<You know...>" Synope hissed as he came out of the bush, into a clearing. "<Sssome of usss have to have quiet to find our mealsss...>"
Synope spoke in an accented lisp... He rarely ever used his universal language skills... He didn't usually talk to other species, because other species weren't likely to talk to them, and Synope wasn't likely to not try to eat them.
The female grovyle in question though was fine... Being a reptile helped her with that.

Right one cue, a female Grovyle came ambling out of the bushes, apple in hand. The lizard pokemon took another large bite out of the red fruit as she calmly stared up at the serpent like she saw him every day. <"Well, I wouldn't want you too get too big around the waist line. Plus seeing you eat is not on my bucket list," She said before finishing off the apple and throwing the core over her shoulder. "By the way, I learned something. Turns out, my tree that I live in, it's an apple tree. Did not know that when i moved in there."
The wood gecko pokemon casually leaned against a tree as she stared into Synope's big, red eyes. "Hey, Synope, I've been thinking. If you eat a grass-type pokemon, does that count as meat or a veggie? 'Specially since so many have plants sprouting on them, like your's turely."

Synope raised a scaly ridge as the female grovyle showed herself, munching on an apple. "<Aren't grovylesss sssuposssed to have an in depth connection to their tree? Or is this just the firssst year it had applesss and-... Why do I even care? I should be berating you.>"
The snake merely sighed though, and played along with the female grovyle's banter. After all, he had to admit it was at the very least, somewhat entertaining. "<I am pretty sure eating a grass type is meat... Though most of them are fellow reptiles, and the idea of sssuch a meal disgustsss me... I am posssitive that is just a growth on your head and arms, used as camouflage or... Sssomething.>"
Synope looked thoughtful for a moment, actually for the first time in his life wondering what the heck that made Nanali? She wasn't a plant.... But grass types could manipulate plants... Some could even shoot seeds...
"<If you were a plant after all, why would you eat other plants... Are you a cannibal?>"

The Grovyle shrugged her shoulders. <"I don't think plants are a particular species. You're a meatbag, so if you eat other meatbags your still not a cannibal though. Although your definition of cannibalism is slightly warped from the usual."> The female pokemon then yawned and stretched, slowly putting her claws behind her head. <"And for your information, I'd only just moved into my tree last year. And that was in the autumn. No apples, sadly."> Suddenly Nanali snapped to life and said to Synope, <"Okay, so how about this- what if you tried eating a Cherrim or something. Not a reptile, but it's still a grass type. Or an Oddish maybe.">

"<They don't look that appetizing to me. I have only seen an oddish once in my life anyway, and I didn't catch it, so I don't know. I mean... I wouldn't eat a ditto either.>" Synoper shuddered at the thought of those creepy pink slimeballs.
<"I'm just going to assume Arceus was feeling rather humorousss.>" Synope finalized.
A pause. "<Anyway, how wasss the winter? I didn't see you until then.>"

<"Oh winter was about as pleasant as usual,"> The female Grovyle replied nonchalantly. <"Basically spent the whole season keeping my tree from freezing over or getting eaten. The works."> The female pokemon smiled and sighed contently. <"Yeah, but that just make spring so much sweet, now don't it?">

Synope nodded his head, red eyes thoughtful and calm. "<My insidesss won't freeze... There is food around... Ssso I guess Ssspring isssn't ssso bad...>" The tone was sort of sarcastic... Spring and summer were great actually. They had to be. What is better than not having a season that could kill you, and you found nowhere warm enough to hibernate to escape it?
The hot springs would normally be an ideal, permanent place... But humans also liked to get warm in it's waters... Stupid warm bloods... They had warm blood for that purpose...
The snake pokemon allowed a small smile to touch his scaly lips. "<Ssspring and sssummer isss the very escenccce of life.>" Synope stated.

Nanali laughed lightly. <"Well I guess if you wanna be poetic about it..."> She said. Suddenly the lizard leaped up and landed on Synope's head. <"Hey scale-belly, let's go beat up some adorable little forest creatures and level up. What d'ya say?">

Synope merely narrowed his red eyes in annoyance, flicking his forked tongue out as the female grovyle attatched herself to his head... "<Or...,>" the snake-like pokemon offered, "<I could beat up the not ssso cute foressst creature raping my face.>"
"<But...,>" Synope began with a wide, silky grin. "<On the other of my nonexistant hands... You did sssteal my lassst meal. This could be a chance to make up thingsss.>"
Another pause... "<Of courssse... I'm curiousss asss to the intentionsss of thisss... You would very well beat up innocccent foressst creaturesss without me wouldn't you? Isss thisss a date?>" Synope asked with mild curiosity, using his tail and the strong muscular coils in them to pry Nanali off and land her back on the ground in front of him.

Nanali threw back her head and let out a loud laugh at the question. <"A date!? What're you kidding, Snaggle-tooth?"> The green reptile patted the Seviper on a massive coil and said, <"Sorry, Slithers, but I like my guys with more limbs and less fangs, maybe with a leaf growing out of their head."> With that, Nanali launched into the air and somersaulted before landing on a tree branch above. <"Nah, I was just thinking on what you said last time we talked, about enjoying life in general, not really fighting for fun, and, well, I thought on it and came to a conclusion. You are a boring, boring reptile, and I need to fix that.">

Synope merely rasied a scaly eyebrow and flicked out his red forked tongued at Nanali. "<Uh-huh...>" Synope drawled out slightly. "<Now... Am I boring, or am I jussst boring to you chicken legsss? Dare I asssk how you plan to change thisss ssstate of being I didn't know I even had? Thisss boring?>" He hissed in question.
The massive snake pokemon slowly curled up and rested his head on one of his circular coils, red, reptilian eyes looking thoughtful. "I don't fight for fun... If I fight, I fight to kill... And even that isss usually for food... Usually... But THEY..." Synope trailed off.
The snake pokemon seemed to be remembering something rather unpleasant, as he eventually just snarled/hissed in frustration as he uncoiled himself and slithered away slowly. "<You up for hot springsss? I wouldn't mind going there... Maybe after we sssplit up I could hunt again in the foressstsss.>" Synope called behind him.
