The sight of the Fire Spin sent Yuri's mind panicking. Pulling his thoughts together, he tried desperately to teleport away. With his psychic reserves as drained as they were, however, all he could manage was a short warp a couple feet to the side, and the flame engulfed him. The Kirlia's mind went white with pain before it disappeared and he fell on all fours. The teleport had prevented him from getting trapped in the fiery vortex like Fire Spin is so prone to doing, but the brunt of the fire attack still hit him. Getting up, Yuri looked up and saw Megumi rushing to the scene as fast as she could. "I won't give up," He thought, steeling himself, "Not until one of us faints."

Star's Fire Spin had hit it's mark, not as she had hoped but close enough. She watched as the flame engulfed the male kirlia, showing a smile on the corner of her mouth and slowly started to tilt over abit. Pain once again made itself known, almost forcing her to fall to the ground and luckly, leaned to a nearby tree with a tired look in her eyes.
Star knew that one way or another, fire would soon burn out of opitons and she was out of ideas as it was. "Its...just fine with me." She thought, letting out a small flame, only instead it was a puff of smoke. She almost laughed at the thought, her being bested by a psyhcic pokemon and a quick one, none the less. But as she pushed herself away from the tree and tried her best to stay on her paws, she was at least glad that she was able to wear down the male kirlia and show that she wasn't weak.
{"Heh...so much for being quick."} The female vulpix spoke in a low tone and with a look to a running trainer, her sight soon turned black and findlly fell to the ground on her right side.

Megumi ran as fast as she could over to her Kirlia. "Yuri!" She shouted, skidding to a halt and crouching down next to him. He was badly burned and utterly exhausted but he wasn't fainted yet. "Yuri, why?" She asked, gingerly touching his scorched face. The Kirlia just smiled and looked over to the fallen Vulpix. He'd won, and now Megumi was here to capture a truly strong pokemon.
The girl followed her pokemon's gaze as it rested on a female vulpix. She was beautiful, gorgeous, and utterly adorable. Her pokemon had risked his health to knock it out for her, just for her. Too choked up for words, the brown-haired girl embraced Yuri in a hug, crying tears of joy. "Oh, Yuri..." She sobbed. Then, getting up, an empty pokeball in her hand, Megumi threw it at the Vulpix. "Pokeball, go!" She shouted. The capsule hit its mark, then sucked in the fainted pokemon in a beam of red energy. Without realizing it, she started to hold her breath, willing with all her might for the pokeball to stay shut.

Star couldn't bear the thought of being some trainer's pet, let alone a human. But she was in too much pain to move, mainly from her back but she wouldn't show it to that kirlia. No, she was better then that.
She felt something hit her and soon every sound vaished, leaving only silence in it's place. Star soon knew that she was in a pokeball, trying to fight her way out but oddly enough, she didn't fight at all. She was too tired and the pain from her spine, made it harder for her to fight back. So with a sigh in her mind, gave up and soon the pokeball stopped shaking. She was caught.
But Star was still wild, at heart.

The pokeball clicked and stopped wobbling. For a long time Megumi just stood there, too stunned to move. She'd caught a Vulpix; a rare, prized, and powerful fire-type Pokemon. The young girl felt her legs give out as she collapsed to the ground. An overwhelming sense of something undescribable washed over her. Before this she'd never had to battle to catch a pokemon. Kika came to her from a breeder and Yuri had been caught after ten pokeballs lobbed at his head, but this pokemon was different. Even though she hadn't participated in the battle, her Kirlia had worn itself ragged trying to ensure she would have another pokemon. What was this feeling? This overwhelming sense of an indescribable emotion. She was joyous for capturing an adorable pokemon, and she was grateful to Yuri for weakening it, but something more powerful was blotting out all the others. In a single moment, Megumi understood. Tossing off her sunhat, she buried her face in her hands and wept.
Shame. For the first time in the longest she could remember, she was ashamed of herself. While she was busy learning rudimentary lesson in pokemon training, her own pokemon were strong enough to not even need her. Megumi was so proud of her team, but she was ashamed at how weak she herself was. "If I had been the one trying to capture that Vulpix I would have bungled it up!" She thought, summoning forth another torrent of tears. "What kind of trainer am I if my pokemon battle better by themselves than with me!?" She sobbed.

Star's thoughts of her father's words, seemed to make some sense about trainers and their pokemon.<"Sometimes, when trainers need help, it is our job to protect them in their time of need. Even if we still dislike them in one way or another."> The female vulpix wondered why her father would say that, talking as if he knew what humans were thinking. Star closed her eyes, quite confused on just that alone.
She of course, was still in the pokeball with pain still ripping at her back. Star could only focus on one thing, so she listened to a sound that she could faintly hear and let out a low growl. Crying. It was all to familer to the vulpix, bring back memories of the clash between her parents and having to run away from it all. Star had giving up on that, crying and feeling upset. She had to, in order to survive in the Wild and nearly threw her soft side away. But listining to it more, it became clear. It wasn't a pokemon, it was a human. The girl she had saw before being trapped within the pokeball, was crying.
Star half opened her eyes to darkness and slowly a small flame of anger seemed to spark in her light brown eyes. "She's crying! Great, just great!" She thought, as another surge of pain from her spine made her growl even more and flicked her ears back."If only if she stop crying, then maybe I can get help." Star sighed, her six tails curling up agaisnt her back and forced herself to listen to the noise she was able to hear.
